St. Mark’s Episcopal Church
Founded 1858, the sanctuary at St. Mark’s was completed in 1875 – its walls standing five feet high during the Civil War. The parish also acted as the cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas until 1888. In 1934, future President Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Taylor were married at St. Mark’s. Today, St. Mark’s is a vibrant faith-based community at the heart of downtown San Antonio.
